wind and a light weight kilt....
Ok... I love my Utilikilts...I really do... BUT the last one I got was a Desert camo Utilikilt... and for some UNKNOWN reason, Utilikilt choose a light weight 100% cotton ripstop fabric... while this is a great choice for the military.. it is a shitty choice for Utilikilts... they could have easily found the same camo pattern in a nice poly/cotton twill like the rest of the Original model kilts... Polly/Cotton doesn't need to be ironed very often...or even at all... cotton ripstop.... yeah... it needs to be ironed... a LOT... and even then, once it's ironed and looking good... as soon as you sit down, it's creased beyond belief.. I still like it... but it'll mainly get worn around the house..and not see to much travel into public..
Now, as I said, it's a light weight cotton fabric...that means it doesn't take much wind to make the kilt very light in the front (or rear).. My wife and I had stopped to grab a 32oz Monster before heading home the other night when the winds picked up due to an approaching thunder storm... as I was walking from the parking space to the door.... a gust of wind hit and lifted the apron of the kilt....I was showing just about all the thigh possible and had it been more than a quick gust of wind, well... let's just say the local would have been more than freaked out...Of course my wife thought it was funny as hell and laughed her ass off watching me walk into the store holding both the front AND the back of the kilt down during the next gust of wind...
I thikn from now on when I order a Utilikilt, I'm going to call and ask them if it's a ripstop fabric... if it is, I'll pass... poly/cotton from now on.. or even better, I'll stick with the kilts my wife makes. they have a full under apron to avoid flashing everyone in a sudden gust of wind and I can pick out the material myself :D
